Eastbourne Vacations: What To Do When You Visit in Eastbourne

Eastbourne is a town in East Sussex, on the southern coast of England. The British have been taking vacations in Eastbourne for many years. However, it’s popularity really started to increase when the railway system first ran to the town in Edwardian times.

When you visit the town you don’t limit yourself to just exploring the town. Located close by are Brighton & Hove and Hastings. If you choose Eastbourne as a base, one can explore the South Downs or take a trip up to Beachy Head Cliff.

As you’d expect from a seaside resort, there are plenty of beaches and which are afforded some shelter by the cliffs towards the east of the town. It is these, which help to contribute towards the city having such high levels of sunshine throughout the year.

You’ll find more than just beaches, there are 4 theatres in the town, several parks, museums and a bandstand. So you will certainly find that there is plenty for one to do and see during your time in the town. There is plenty of local transport to get you around or you can take a stroll through the streets if you prefer.

Beachy Head is one of the most popular tourist attractions. It’s located towards the west of the town and it rises 530 feet (162 metres) above sea level. When you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views and on a clear day, you will be able to see the Kent coastline at Dungeness.

The nearby Abbots Wood should also be on your “to do” list. This is one of the finest examples of historic woodlands you are likely to come across in the UK. Certainly if you are looking for some peace and tranquillity then this is a beautiful place to go. Plus if you keep quiet and your eyes open you may well spot some of its more unusual wildlife and beautiful plants.

During the summer, the town also has a number of boat trips available. These tours generally last for around one hour and offer you some more unusual views of Beachy Head and parts of the coastline. The trip generally starts from the town’s port and will head out to Beachy Head peninsular before heading back in to land once more.
